The Clinical Effects of Sultamicillin in the Urinary Tract Infection.

Abstract
|
|
|
Thirty patients with urinary tract infection were studied to determine the clinical efficacy and safety of sultamicillin(Unasyn tablet).
The results were as follows
1. Standard disc susceptibility test showed 81.8% sensitivity to sultamicillin whereas 24.2% to ampicillin.
2. The clinical and bacteriological effectiveness were 86.7% and 80.0%, respectively.
3. The side effects of sultamicillin were minimal by clinical and biochemical evaluation, but diarrhea(2 cases) and indigestion(1 case) were noted.
The study shows that sultamicillin is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of urinary tract infection.
